Math Problem

In a Love Story

Many years ago, I proposed to my wife on opening day of the Portland Timbers season.

I decided I would propose after we scored our first goal. We were playing the Puerto Rico Islanders before the team made it into Major League soccer. The best laid plans go unlaid sometimes as the score was nil nil at half. So I proposed at halftime.

We got married on May 9 in 2009. So here’s the math problem for you. What are the odds that the Portland Timbers would play a home game on our anniversary.

So here we sit 17 years later, and The Portland Timbers play this weekend on our wedding anniversary. It will be our last Portland Timber’s game while living in Portland.

The sweet symmetry and ark of life is worth noting, and these little quirks in the cosmos are appreciated and not taking for granted.

On A Side Note

When we first started going to games, we had a ticket representative who took care of us. His name was Dan. He let us into the stadium to take pictures for our wedding, and he was always there for us. He passed away from cancer years ago. This post is for you as well Dan.

The people who sat around us for years, have become close friends. We have watched kids grow up in this stadium. This is what we will miss the most.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
