What is the best purchase you have ever made?

Today is the day, like any other day, where I will walk into the store and make the best purchase I have ever made. I am determined. once again I consult with Sinead O Conner as nothing compares to this,

When I was younger, yes I have always been younger, I marched myself down to the car dealership in my neighborhood and bought, in retrospect, was the most horrible car. At the time it made sense. It was a Dodge Aires K with a stick shift. It was light blue and the radio didn’t work.

The radio didn’t work until one day in Pittsburgh it started playing. My friend Nancy penned a poem in the back of that car about Pennsylvania. I remember the first two lines

Cows and Hills and trees

I have seen enough of these.

One thing about that car is when I pulled out fast it pulled out slow.

But today I will achieve my personal best. Or maybe I already have. Our CSA order arrived and there is broccolini . That may be the apex for the day.

Yesterday I was pretty awesome. I bought 10 tickets for a baseball game for 9.00 a piece.

Consumer, Consume, Consume

Thank you for reading this gibberish to the end. I hope it is obvious, I don’t put emotions into making purchases.

    What a delightfully entertaining and wonderfully self-aware piece! 😊

    I thoroughly enjoyed your blend of humor, nostalgia, and everyday observations. The story of the light blue Dodge Aries K—with its silent radio that mysteriously decided to work one day—was priceless. And the poem, “Cows and Hills and trees… I have seen enough of these,” made me laugh out loud. Sometimes the simplest memories become the ones we treasure most.

    I had a Dodge Aries! It was almost my first car, but really, it was my first fully functioning car. A tank! I was in the worst accident of my life in that car, and we all emerged a-ok!

    I would’ve taken 100 guesses before I guessed an Aries. You know that magical moment when you see some driving the same cars as you when you beep the horn.

    And hopefully it works.

    I must ask you one question.

    Did the radio work?

    Hahah. Will it be terribly disappointing to hear the answer is yes? My radio did work. No A/C though! It was red, but the kind of red that should be called something like used-to-be-red. 🙂

    I must’ve used watercolor for paint.

    I worked at a cement plant with that car on summer, which caused all the paint to peel off the hood.

    They’re actually women out there who fall for guys cause they have cool cars.

    I don’t think I dated anyone like that.

    🙂 I remember meeting a guy who actually thought the best first sentence after saying hello, would be to tell me he had a corvette. lol

    Was his name Tom. That was one of my room mates in college. He loved his ROD and talked of it often.

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.
