I Do

Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.

Spring

Many years ago, myself and a bunch of friends would take a spring vacation in Virginia Beach. It usually signaled the beginning of spring and we looked forward to it every year. We would eat, drink and participate in either an 8k running race or the full marathon.

I was running the full marathon. It was a warm and windy morning with the cherry trees emerging from their winter slumber.

I met this man at the starting line and we started some friendly endorphin driven chatter early in the race. The smell of the ocean was invigorating.

Matt

He told me his plan for the day was to propose to his girlfriend at the end of the race. We ran that entire race together. We finished in about three and a half hours.

He asked me to hand him the ring when he got down on one knee. Which I gladly did. Naturally she accepted his proposal. It was a pleasant three hours with an ending to remember.

his is such a beautifully simple and uplifting story. It captures the spirit of spring not just through the setting, but through the moment itself—new beginnings, shared energy, and something quietly life-changing unfolding along the way.

I love how naturally the connection with Matt develops, from casual race-day conversation to being part of such a meaningful milestone. That detail of you handing him the ring adds a lovely, human touch—it turns the story from something observed into something truly shared.

Warm, vivid, and memorable… it leaves you with the same gentle joy that spring brings.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
