Ask a perfect Question

What makes you nervous?

I’m going to give you an imperfect answer. But it is a very good question. I’m a pretty laid back person, but there are certain things that do make me nervous.

Control

When I look at it in retrospect, it is basically things I have little control over. We just had our home inspection yesterday and found out we have a giant bill for a new sewer line. This is a point in the process where I get really nervous.

Make Him Go Away

I have had an underlying unrest of the soul ever since the Trump regime entered the world. The regime is bad enough, but the people who follow him I walk the streets with. That makes me nervous.

People

I do worry about the nature of people, how we treat animals and the long-term viability of the planet that we live on.

Here’s a story I wrote and got published about that underlying angst. Most of story takes place on one picnic bench. We signed all the paperwork for our new house on that same picnic bench.

I’m not easily stressed and sometimes I use deflection and introspection to diffuse some of that angst. Or I simply head out for a run.

This is a deeply honest and grounded reflection—what makes it stand out is how you resist the urge to give a polished answer and instead offer a real one.

The thread of “control” running through it is especially powerful. You don’t just name what makes you nervous—you uncover why, and that kind of self-awareness gives the piece its weight. The home inspection example makes it tangible, something many can instantly relate to.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
