What’s your best tip for budget travel?

Travel for people comes in many different forms. It could be a road trip up the coast, a destination within your own country or international travel. I am no expert as I have made many mistakes before but by now consider my self seasoned

  1. If you really like to travel, get a job that requires travel. You get to travel a lot on the company dime and you accrue a lot of benefits. I know in my career I tend to or hard to get jobs that require travel.
  2. Once on the road, stay away from the tourist traps. Stay for a while in a certain place and start digging in and learning the customs and the everyday flow of life..
  3. This made sound so common sense but travels are much cheaper January through May.

4. Many countries have excellent mass transit there’s no need to rent a car.

5. Part of our travels consist of a lot of walking, running or riding a bike. You can cover a lot of ground in a rational way, get some good exercise and get the feel of the city or country.

It’s been a long day and I rattled these off off the top of my head. I do spend a lot of money on travel and I don’t always spend it wisely. I’m grateful to be at a point of my life where we probably worry less than most and have the time to soak in the mores and customs of many a destination.

What a wonderful collection of practical travel wisdom! 🌍✈️ You may say you “rattled these off,” but there is clearly a lot of experience behind these points.

I especially agree with your advice to stay away from tourist traps and spend time experiencing the everyday life of a place. That is when travel becomes more than sightseeing—it becomes understanding people, customs, food, streets, and the rhythm of life.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
