How did you meet your significant other?

I am going to share a quick little antidote about how one should meet somebody. Our daughter had a coffee rendezvous through an online dating thing. They were going to be meeting at a coffee shop. She is not the best with dirctions. She drove around Bellvue and could not find the agreed upon coffee shop.

In my experience for many this would be a deal breaker, but Drew agreed to meet on another day. He is that kind of guy. So here I sit in the Boise airport, waiting to catch a flight back to their daughter’s third birthday party.

This Is Us.

I met my wife, the same way in a round about kind of way. We also had the awkward first date. I showed up and gave her a garden gnome. She thought of me as somewhere between weird or a psychopath. We now have garden gnomes in and around our yard.

Sometimes the deepest heartbreak is accepting that you can love someone with everything in you, and they still may not choose to stay. Their decision to let you go does not define your worth. You can miss them, love them, and still understand that you deserve a love that does not leave you questioning whether you are worth fighting for. Sometimes losing them is simply making room for someone who chooses you back.

What a beautiful and heartwarming story! ❤️ Sometimes the most meaningful relationships don’t begin with a perfect first meeting. They begin with a wrong turn, an awkward moment, a little misunderstanding—and, most importantly, someone choosing not to give up.

I especially loved the part about Drew agreeing to meet again when your daughter couldn’t find the coffee shop

I guess she was looking for just a slightly weird psychopath then? 🙂

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
