Staying on Theme

Hit 5,000 steps today and drop your achievement here — we’re cheering you on!

The Side Effects of Endorphins being the name of this here random exploration of life (this blog) is the central unifying theme. I spoke earlier of how much of a priority it is for me.

Find Your Way Around

When moving to a new area, one of the best ways to get the lay of the land is to go out for a run, a walk or a bike ride. I already know my way around our new city.

I will be in Germany the next couple of weeks. I love running in foreign countries. I love the sensation of being lost for a bit. I have not got permanently lost yet.

Side Effects

I am in it for the side effects. With endorphins comes boosts in self esteem and overall mood. You may have had the most crappy day, and still you got your run in. I use the term run generically as it could be what ever floats your boat. As I was typing this, my wife booked us a yoga class and I believe an open swim. (The democracy known as marriage)

This reminds me I have to unpack our kayaks.

Not to diminish the achievement of others. 5000 steps is a pretty low bar, especially if you fit it into your life style. I choose to live in a neighborhood where walking is convenient. Walkability was a top criteria when buying a house.

And being in love does help, as witnessed by this earworm.

What an uplifting and refreshing reflection! 🌿

I love how you celebrate movement not just as exercise, but as a way of discovering places, lifting the spirit, and embracing life’s little adventures. Your focus on the “side effects”—better mood, confidence, and joy—is both inspiring and relatable.

Wishing you a wonderful time in Germany, filled with memorable runs, beautiful discoveries, and, of course, plenty of endorphins! 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️😊

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
