This is your Yearly Performance Appraisal

What are you good at?

The main boss is sitting behind his desk and just told me I don’t have attention to detail and my handwriting. Is subpar. Especially my cursive. He looks up anxiously from his desk and asks me tell him.

Mark what are you good at? I feel like my job is on the line, but I don’t care that much.

I think for a moment and try to be as organized as possible.

Hefe it is like this.

  • I’m really good at doing complicated calculations in my head.
  • I make delicious soups, and I make them from scratch.
  • I’m an above average storyteller with a vigorous imagination.
  • I am a pretty decent Racquetball player
  • I am an innovative problem, solver.

What do any of these skillets have to do with our mission of making the best printers in the world?

Well, not a heck of a lot, I think people should be printing less and doing things electronically. I think it makes environmental sense.

  • I should add I’m very honest.

 Do you like working here?

  • Did I mention I’m very honest.

This was such an honest, witty, and brilliantly human piece ✨

I really loved the dry humor woven through the dialogue, especially the “Did I mention I’m very honest” line 😂 But beneath the humor, there’s also something thoughtful and relatable here about how workplaces often overlook creativity, imagination, and real-world intelligence simply because they don’t fit neatly into a job description.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
