What gives you direction in life?

.I write a story much like I live life. I don’t live with one big plan or destination in mind. I do have a set of morals and ethics that I do adhere to. Hopefully that moral compass points the ship in the right direction.

The tired cliché, when people say that all things happen for a reason does not serve my purpose well. The only reason they happen is because we make them happen..

At times, I’m a bit in awe of people with religious convictions. But that’s not for me. I feel religion to be a form of control of people and rewarding them on another ledger. I’m capable of making mistakes and I’ve made many in my life.

Like our grandson says when we show up at his house. “ Opa let’s go on an adventure. “

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
A complete unknown, like a rolling stone

I never had anybody guide me in career decisions. I guess, for this reason I can come across as somewhat cynical. I’ve been to many churches in my life, and certainly they are filled with great people, but the words ring hallow to me.

And by all means I hope to be a life, long learner. With that paradox comes complexity as the more we know is the more we know we don’t know. Being a parent and being a grandparent is quite the experience.

Listen to the youth in this world, even the two and four-year-olds. They’ll tell you which direction to go and not vice versa.

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
