This is No Dress Rehearsal

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

This is Your Life

This is a quote from the song hit by a Century by The Tragically Hip. That’s not even my favorite song by them but every time I hear it I get emotionally choked up.

At its most basic level, “Ahead by a Century” is a song with a broad sweep, as it weaves together past, present and future. It is about time, memory, loss, disappointment and desire. But it is also about Canada’s identity and the politics of hope. It is a song in which the Hip asks us to shed what holds us back, and to imagine a future that sets us free.

It certainly wasn’t a song or quote that I carried around for life. I only learned of this song in 1997 when my kids were being born.

It Rings True

Here I sit, in the morning of my 66th revolution around the sun. I look back at people I know who stayed in the same place doing the same thing for years and years.. Life is about getting out of your comfort zone and doing something different. This is all we got and it is not a dress rehearsal.

I’d say that with heartfelt gratification as we start a new chapter in our life, moving to Everett, Washington.

I feel like I am ahead by a century

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
