What’s something you
completed that you never
even thought you could?
I was working as a bean counter and a suburb of Washington DC. My job was to be the middleman between accounting and IT. I found myself actually liking my work which is a rarity for myself. That in itself could be something I thought I could never do.

But I digress. I told my boss I wanted to go into the technical side and learn computer programming. He told me that would be a difficult transaction. About nine months later, no, I didn’t have a baby that’s something I can’t do, I took a job with the biggest database company in the United States.
I ended up for the most part enjoying that career and I was pretty successful at it. Which brings me to.
Not Working
I’ve never been completely comfortable in the United States live to work mentality. I could never completely relax on vacation or the time between jobs.. I thought retirement was a far off pipe dream. I have so much gratitude that I am able to retire and not work and I have very little angst in my life.
This is especially true with the current regime who want to strip Social Security and all the benefits that go with not working. Their goal is a poorly paid and under educated workforce.

Which brings me Back To
A little over a year ago, my wife and I were walking in the park, near a picnic bench near out daughter’s house. The picnic bench seems to be a recurring theme in my life. We started talking about what it would take for us to move to the Seattle area. Housing is more expensive in Seattle and moving is a colossal royal pain in the patella.
Everything had to fall, right? My wife landed a great job, we worked around the clock to sell our previous house and things just happened perfectly to buy this house.
Many Many Tears Ago (sic)
I was running a 50 miler up near Mount Rainier and I was worried about hitting the cutoff for time limits. At about the 17 mile mark, there was a climb that just didn’t end. I was in tears as we climbed and climbed into the clouds.

I remember after the race I was in base Camp enjoying a beverage I can’t even remember. I looked up on this hill (mountain) and said to whoever was nearby. “I am glad we didn’t run up there” pointing to a. Precipice on a mountain side.
I don’t remember who was standing next to me?
But they told me we did run up there.
If you’re playing paying close attention. And I hope you were not. I changed the title of this thread into a haiku. When I was born, I never thought I would ever write haiku. I don’t think most of us do.
