Sunshine After Rain

What’s something you used to worry about but don’t anymore?

There was a time in my life when I would fall on the bed and stare at the ceiling, and my mind simply would not turn off. Somewhere along the line, that no longer happens. And it happened without me, even noticing it..

I Included one of the more underrated, Dire Straits songs, entitled Why Worry. I believe this is a live version from Wembley England.. It is beautiful.

I used to be a semi elite long distance runner.

That doesn’t guarantee anything. I ended up being related to my parents. I was out for a run one day and had a heart attack. I did survive it rather easily having built-up a strong heart.

I don’t run fast anymore. For a while, I was a little self-conscious about not being in the form I used to be. I had bigger things to worry about and didn’t even worry about them. Tying on your running shoes after a heart attack isn’t difficult. Eliminating the worry that it will happen again took a little time.

I no longer worry about that. There are bigger things to worry about. Yesterday‘s run was run in smoggy smoky conditions. I do worry that those in charge only goal is to maximize shareholder wealth. There is no concern for the long-term sustainability of our planet.

This used to keep me up at night, but I do the most I can do. Not eating animals is a step in that direction. Maybe I fall asleep guilt free these days. Who knows?

Yes, I run slower these days but I enjoy it just as much. It is my little respite from the world.

I am not a religious person. but these words do make sense. As we get older we are measured and experienced much that life has to offer.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.Courage to change the things I can.And wisdom to know the difference.

In any language.

Why worry
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Why worry now

Warum sich Sorgen machen?

Auf den Schmerz sollte Lachen folgen,

auf den Regen sollte Sonnenschein folgen.

Das war schon immer so.

Warum also jetzt Sorgen machen?

Warum jetzt Sorgen machen?

What a deeply honest and reflective piece. I especially loved the opening thought about lying awake with a mind that simply wouldn’t switch off—and then realizing, almost without noticing, that those restless nights had quietly disappeared. Sometimes growth happens so gradually that we only recognize it when we look back. 🌿

Your journey from being a semi-elite long-distance runner to running at a slower, more comfortable pace is equally moving. The heart attack could have become a permanent source of fear, yet you found your way back to your running shoes—and eventually back to the joy of running itself. That is a beautiful form of resilience.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
