What is your favorite quote?
There are so many quotes that I’d like, but I have to be honest the first quote that came into mind is this.
How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?”
The quote isn’t brilliant, but it’s funny in context. Uncle Rico is a cringe worthy character in Napoleon dynamite. He lives his entire life back in his twenties when he starred in football.
He looks off into the distance and offers this savage piece of advice
“If coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we’da been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.”
I still know a lot of people like that still living their high school or college days. I find it both charming as well as pathetic. When I love about these quotes, it is rooted into dreams that are lost and being stuck in the same place.
“You better believe things’d have been different. I’d have gone pro in a heartbeat. I’d be making millions of dollars and living in a big old mansion somewhere, you know, soaking it up in a hot tub with my soulmate.
Being in a hot tub with your soulmate, in other words, the American dream.
