What sacrifices have you made in life?
I have said this before, as I believe sacrifice is not much of a sacrifice. With sacrifice comes contentment as acts toward the common good make us feel better about ourselves and society as a whole.
Being A Parent
Many people say being a parent entails a lot of sacrifices and that certainly would be correct. With those sacrifices comes reward. In retrospect, I had an abundant life while raising children and in retrospect I wish I sacrificed more. I wish we outsourced less but my first wife was not really keen to having children. She had a difficult time when we first adopted a dog. But I am thankful retrospect for the sacrifices she initially made. She did well as a parent on her terms. That’s okay. Yesterday was our oldest 32nd birthday. I am quite proud of her.

Being Apparent
Empathy and sacrifice are deeply linked in human behavior. Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, often acts as a primary motivator for prosocial sacrifice, driving us to prioritize another person’s well-being over our own.
Move to Everett
I like where I like and my everyday life. We are giving up many things moving north and there are many I shall miss deeply. In a sense this last two months have been a sacrifice of sorts. Moving is a colossal pain in the patella. However we get to be with family and in the end there is no real sacrifice.
And this goes back to the question of freedom. We have the freedom to what is right.
