What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life?

For the most part, things come into your life at the right time. And I do truly believe that.

Running

I started running when I was 23 years old. I dabbled a little bit when I lived in Philadelphia, but it didn’t become regular and serious until a year later when I moved to Southern Virginia. It was at that point in time I was ready to embrace it. There were certain parts of my being that I didn’t like that I wanted to correct and running took care of a lot of that.

I haven’t gone to many class reunions in my life, but I do remember getting ribbed playfully. At the one that I attended, people j joked that I would rib the cross country team. I reminded them that was a wrestling team. Who knows if I ran it in college or high school I probably would not come to love the sport.

Plant Based

The same thing could be said for when I became vegan. I stopped eating animal products 16 years ago. At first, because of global warming and now just for the sanctuary of animals. it wasn’t that big of a deal, because I had been vegetarian most of my adult life.

Googly Eyed Pillow Talk

“I wish I would’ve met you years before I would’ve married you that much sooner. “ That line works great In the movies, and who knows if that’s even true because 10 years earlier, you were a different person and I suspect I would’ve fumbled the opportunity and done something outrageously stupid.

At Twenty Eight

I hope somebody remembers Janis Ian’s beautiful little ballad called At 17.

We all play the game, and when we dare
We cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say: “Come on, dance with me”
And murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me, at seventeen

In a Facebook post, when our middle daughter turned 28 her post was just brilliant. She said congratulate me. I now have a fully developed frontal cortex.

I had a simple little surgery this past week and one of the post surgery instructions was don’t make any major decisions for the next 24 hours. The same thing said can be said until we reach our late 20s. We don’t have the right tool set yet. Things come to you mostly when they should and you’re ready for them.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
