Which fictional world would be the most fun to vacation in?

Al Stewart paints a beautiful world in the epic song Year Of the Cat. Each verse in this song takes me to a place that would be ideal to hang out and experience..

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime

She comes out of the sun in a silk dress
Running like a watercolor in the rain
Don’t bother asking for explanations
She’ll just tell you that she came

And why would one bother asking for explanations as the scene is beautiful and filled with mystery and intrigue.

I love situations such as this. I love being in a culture different from mine and meeting perfect strangers..

She doesn’t give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow ’til your sense of which direction
Completely disappears

There are magical moments in life and for a while it’s so nice to have your sense of direction, completely disappear and the world make no sense at all.

At least for me

Well morning comes and you’re still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone

What a beautiful appreciation of “Year of the Cat.” 🎶✨ You’ve captured something deeper than the song itself—the feeling of being swept away into a mysterious world where curiosity matters more than explanations.

I especially loved your thought about losing your sense of direction. Sometimes the most memorable experiences happen precisely when we stop trying to understand everything and simply allow ourselves to experience the moment.

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
