If your future self could send you one sentence, what do you hope it would say?
Here I am walking around my old neighborhood where I used to live. Things have changed somewhat, but one nuance there still sits an old school pay phone. I parked my car in front of the coffee shop down the street from where I used to live. I decided to run one of my old running loops for nostalgia purposes. I didn’t think about it at the time, but I was sort of my future self visiting my past self but that’s overthinking the situation a little bit.
I was simply going for a run and reminisce an old running route. I used to run the whole 10K route in about 47 minutes. Today it took me 62 minutes, but still it was more pleasant than expected. I was in no hurry. The trees were larger and hung into the street and there were condos where they used to be a bakery.. But there on the corner of 40th and Hancock stood Sam’s Billiards.

I miss living in the center of the city.. I loved living there. I finished my run and decided I’d get a beer in the pool hall.
My wife and I used to play pool there on Sunday night.
It was kind of nostalgic sitting in the pool having a beer. I still recognized the bartender named Angie.I still felt like my future self visiting my self from 15 years ago. Angie had not changed at all.She asked me if I still like martinis. I had to do a double take because I had not had a martini in twenty years. How in the world could she remember that? I didn’t even remember that.. I ended up having two and felt a little tipsy. I really wanted a beer because I was thirsty.
I was walking out of the pool hall and heard the distinct ring of a telephone. I looked around thinking the Apple phone company added some ringtones. It took me a while to realize the ring was coming from the payphone.
Of course, I answered it. It was a damn call for me and they were asking if I would accept the charges. I don’t know exactly how it worked, but I did. I don’t even ask who it was, but it sounded like me.
We talked for a little bit, and my future self kept dragging on the conversation, which was a good thing because I was going to walk a little bit as not to drive right away.
My future self was really tough to follow as he spoke to me entirely in German. He asked me to put more euros in the slot. I humored him and put in some quarters.
I have a pretty good idea of what he said, but he spoke quickly for my level of German so I missed a word or two. It didn’t matter all that much because I got his message which basically said.
Be patient you’ll get there.
Translation for my future self.

I would love to hear you opinion as well
