If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

There is a time and place for everything, and in the end it doesn’t matter all that much. It is not where we live rather how we live that is important. It is the people that surround us and the culture we are willing to embrace.

There is no place that has everything we embrace. There are times in life we embrace warm weather and others we prefer the cold or the rain. At times that may be snow.

And most of us live in a democracy and that institution I am referring to is marriage or family. We are as free as we want to be.

I rather love European culture, and there are times I long for it. I walked home last night (Germany) at an hour before midnight and it was still warm and humid. It was dry, barren much like Texas.

I moved to to the west coast yet obnoxious summer weather followed. I love Central Mexico yet I long for the ocean.

If I choose to live anywhere it is where I am currently living. You make the best of it and that has always been the case. For us that are so lucky we don’t choose where we live, rather where we live chooses us.

    I’m glad you gleaned the willingness to embrace.
    I was discussing this with my daughter yesterday and she’s lived in many more places than myself.

    She started with if there were no politics. We were on a busy street corner heading to the hospital and I think she said New Zealand.

    Thank you for sharing that. I completely understand your daughter’s first thought—”if there were no politics.” It’s interesting how our ideal places often reflect the values we long for as much as the landscapes we admire. New Zealand certainly comes up often in such conversations for its natural beauty and quality of life.

    For me, the willingness to embrace new people, cultures, and perspectives matters just as much as the destination itself. It was lovely to hear about your conversation, and I appreciate you sharing it with me. It certainly gave me something to reflect on

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.
