How do you feel about cold weather?
Oh how I wish they were right. But they never are. Those who deny climate change are irresponsible short term members of a cult, some preparing for the end of times.
That’s a bit of a hyperbole there however I wish they were right. every time there’s colder than normal weather and I emphasize the word weather. I appreciate it and look forward to it.
I moved to the West Coast, trying to escape the oppressive humidity and heat of Washington DC. After many years, it has followed me here.
One my favorite activities
I love to run in the snow. It is one of the most peaceful activities. The silence of the snow is deafening and the peace so absolute. The world makes sense when it snows. It is a kinder Gentle place.
Bitterly Cold – when I first started running, I used to think one cannot skip a day. I ran for a week in Pennsylvania when the weather was -20°. There is one particular afternoon mid run, where I had given up having babies in the future. I should’ve worn one more layer. There is a certain beauty of that challenge.
Getaway
One year during the holidays, I brainstormed a quick getaway with my wife. They’re only two states I’ve never been to. Iowa is one and Alaska the other. I proposed to my wife, the idea of going to Alaska in mid December. I romanticize the idea of being snowed in for four days and getting around on snow shoes. I guess it was a passive aggressive attempt to see the aurora borealis.
She looked at me and the bubble above her head read, “Are you F@cking Crazy”.
Then What is Cold?
Out of dead school I worked for Godiva Chocolatier. I travel around the country and took physical inventories. The product was stored in freezers across the country. The freezers were unbelievably cold. My first trip into the freezer I was good for 20 minutes. The next trip 15 minutes the next trip 10 minutes. I hope you can see a pattern here.
In a country so potentially rich such as ours, there should not be a single unhoused person. I cannot imagine living on the streets. They don’t have the opportunity to get out of the cold.
I take the opportunity to talk to people on the streets. Many hold up signs that say something about God. It there was really a God or a Jesus we would not have problems such as this. then again, I could be wrong and I hope I am.

I remember about 10 years back going for a run and it started snowing at the beginning of my run. You could feel in the air this storm meant business. The next seven days were that of childhood bliss . My wife and I lit fires and relaxed.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, I had to get to the airport a week later. With a bit of irony, I was scheduled to visit my daughter in the Maldives, leaving behind only a memory of a trace of snow.

If the Earth keeps warming the way it is, we may never be able to visit the Maldives again or even go for a run in the snow.

I would love to hear you opinion as well
