Obituary

The coffee poured, now tepid and perfect
the morning paper arrived
Pippi scanned the news paper, obituaries
and it seemed as if nobody had died

Watching this march into oblivion
from afar right after the cross word
It’s a daily obsession of sorts
conformation of living long, quite absurd

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time.
