Guten Morgen

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I’m not a person who’s much into a set routine. For most days I got up and write for an hour or two do a little bit of German and eventually head out for a run.

For most of my adult life, I was not a morning person. Since I retired I generally am up early. I certainly am trying to avoid the case of creeping capitalism. Right now it’s a little different as we are preparing our house for sale and buying a new one.

On some mornings, I’ll put on a jazz station out of Berlin or progressive station out of Santa Barbara. The default is usually classical. I generally avoid listening to the news..

It’s not my strong point, but I’m trying to concentrate on being in the moment and concentrating on the task at hand. I’m certainly flexible. Some days the grandkids wake me up and I don’t have a chance to write or do the other things and that’s OK.

If I have Appointments, I schedule them for early in the morning.

I’ve cut back on the coffee and drink mushroom coffee. Currently I’m sitting on the bed snuggled up with the dog. I tried to avoid measuring and putting benchmarks on what I’m doing and tried to be present in the moment that’s my benchmark.

I’m not the best proofreader in the world, but as I read this, my morning routine is boring. I can live with that.

That’s a pretty solid morning, my friend. That’s a cute and cuddly dog, too.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
