Diamonds on The Soles of His Shoes

What makes you laugh?

A Love Story

This is not a story about marriage, rather to be more exact it is a story about running, youthful recklessness and most importantly a mystery. It is a-mystery about a crime I never committed, yet i was the fingered as the guilty party.

Factoring in the expanding past, this is how it actually happened. I do not recall what month it occurred. I will assume it was June, as most weddings happen in June. My buddy Eeed was getting married. Thats not a typo, that is what we called him. That is what he called himself at times. So we threw him a bachelor party in the best way we could. It just happened to be on the morning of the wedding. No this is not going in the direction you are thinking.

We headed out early on that Saturday morning and we ran the race without incident, even though we were rather late given the circumstances. We all showered and were prim and proper for the ceremony.

At one point during the ceremony Eeed had to get down on his knees as part of the ceremony. While we were gone, somebody painted the words HELP ME on the soles of his shoes.

This blind sided me and there I stood in front of the church laughing hysterically. I could not stop laughing. Eeed gave me a quizzical look as he had no idea of what was going on at the time.Whoever pulled it off was brilliant. Nobody ever confessed as far as I know.

This was such a delightful and engaging read.

The way you set it up with a sense of mystery and then unfolded it into that perfectly timed, lighthearted moment was brilliant. The humor feels so natural, and that “HELP ME” twist—absolutely priceless! It’s one of those stories that captures the spirit of friendship, mischief, and youthful energy so vividly.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
