How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

We vs. Me

When we are part of a group, or be part of a team, or in a relationship, your own personal goals are not always the most important. What’s best for everybody sometimes it’s the best option.

Or We Are Lazy

I’d rather abhor that tag. The goal sometimes is a long way off. Here’s a little example. One of my goals is to get faster. There is race by the lake today. Right now my body is tired and I might choose to have an easier day and eschew the race.

Alternatively

We’re trying to get the house staged for moving. So another large goal may get in the way of another goal. My goal of getting faster is evaluated against our goal of getting the house ready.

Statistics are Like Bikinis

The original question asked for how often. I can answer that question and it makes no sense at all. On average, I do this 9.73 times per week in the winter time but in the summertime it fluctuates up to 11.12 times per week.

Moral of The Story

Everything may not have a goal. I am not much of a goal setter, but we do have ideas where we’re headed. Who knows if sitting here and writing out this diatribe is contributing to any goal. We read to learn about the world and we write to see where we are going.

This is such a thoughtful and refreshingly honest reflection.

I really appreciate how you’ve explored the balance between “me” and “we,” and how real-life priorities often shape our choices more than rigid goals do. The examples make it relatable, and the line about statistics adds a clever, light touch.

A grounded and insightful piece that gently reminds us that direction matters more than perfection. 👏✨

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
