Who was your most influential teacher? Why?
Partial Repeat
I can’t say Miss Cafarelli was a good teacher or a bad teacher but sixth grade seems to be when there’s a lot of shaping and development going on.
I talked about Miss Cafarelli in a previous post. I really couldn’t stand her as a teacher, but she taught me a few valuable lessons.
One day she asked the class, what makes a good friend. Everybody in class, raised their hand and took turns listing things such as Money, looks, humor, proximity.
We were sixth graders with partially developed brains. And Mrs. Caffereli, she was intimidating in her short dresses and an acerbic personality.
She paused for emphasis and started telling us what she thought made a good friend. She simply said.
She said a really good friend is someone who wants to be your friend and you want to be their friend.
It’s that simple.
Well, I think that’s what she said, because as an adult friendship is tricky and complicated but maybe it’s just like Mrs. Caffereli said.
This is the same teacher who made me lip sync, our class during a class concert to our parents, the same teacher who spanked little Julie, who wore short dresses and sat in the front row. I didn’t say the best teacher, but the most influential.
And my uncle had a crush on her.
