Bread Crumbs

What activities do you lose yourself in?

To lose yourself I see as having complete focus on that activity and little awareness of that which is happening around you.

I wish that were true, as my attention can be all over the place. So I am reluctant to admit I usually get lost in an activity but when I do, I cherish it.

When I write a story sometimes I live and breathe that story. Quoting Lily King as my process is similar.

  • Reactionary: She describes each book as a reaction to the one before it.
  • Organic: She avoids heavy plotting, preferring to discover the story as she writes.
  • Ideas: Ideas come to her in “daydream” moments, such as while showering or driving.

Running does the same thing, with meditation of sorts feeding the creative process.

I wish I could immerse myself more but I am not wired that way.

The concept of breadcrumbs involve a trail back to where you came from. I seem to always have that.

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
