I hear people on the left (I am a leftist) bemoan the fact that people vote against their best interest. For example, women who vote for men who want to limit the rights of women. Another example are people making minimum wage voting for people who want to limit the minimum wage.. it seems quizzical and paradoxical, but it’s not.
I vote against my best interest all the time
- I have always been a high earner , but I’m all for raising taxes and have them go toward good causes. The world isn’t fair and I would like to make it a little more.
- My kids are long out of school. I don’t mind paying school taxes.
- Abortion doesn’t affect me at all and luckily it has not I think all women should have the right to choose. They’re smart enough to make their own decisions.
- I am 65 years old. Protecting the environment doesn’t benefit me much, but it affects those who will walk the planet after me.
These are four examples that came up off the top of my head. I make my decisions on what’s best for society not what’s best for me.

I would love to hear you opinion as well
