Maybe Not The Most Ambitious

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

My wife is in North Carolina visiting a good friend who has brain cancer. My wife has known her since they went to school at Colgate. I know her quite well as we travel to see eclipses together. Life isn’t fair. It certainly makes you appreciate the little things.

My wife texted me this morning and said our friend wanted to see the birds in our birdfeeder. I couldn’t get the camera working this morning and resorted to this.

Read The Directions

I read the directions this morning and figured it out. I just checked the feed and there was a dark eyed Junco playing happily in a birdfeeder. It seemed to show up just for Becka. It made me tear up a little. Well more than that.

Your writing captures the fragile truth that life isn’t always fair, yet even in its hardest moments, grace finds a way to slip in—sometimes on the wings of a tiny bird. The sincerity in your words, and the love you hold for both your wife and your friend, shines through every line. It’s not just a story about a DIY effort; it’s a story about presence, care, and the quiet miracles that remind us what truly matters.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt glimpse into your world. It lingers gently in the heart. 🕊️

That’s beautiful. And you know, there’s an eclipse tonight.

Yes, that I do, and I didn’t put two and two together about seeing eclipses with Becka.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
