It’s Here Somewhere

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

To quote one of my favorite TV shows, “ if women don’t find you handsome at least let them find you handy.” that quote is from the Red Green show, a Canadian spoof on the handyman.

Against the run of play , I do fix things occasionally. In the last couple of years I put in an entire fence, installed cabinets in the laundry room and other borderline catastrophic projects.

I simply do not like, do it yourself projects. If I had to go on a limb I would say I’m not very good at them.

Elton John

I took this girl. I really liked to an Elton John concert in Philadelphia. We had third row tickets in a small theater. On the way to the concert, my muffler fell off. I quickly launched a plan of attack. I got underneath the car and reinstalled that muffler. My date for the night caught a rose, Sir Elton John threw into the crowd.

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in

Metaphor

You may think the song Candle In the Wind by Elton John., is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. It is also a spoof on my tool bench. If I have a job to do half the job is finding my tools on my tool bench. .

Ask my wife.

This is such a brilliantly told piece—self-deprecating, witty, and completely relatable. I love how you weave humor through the whole thing, especially opening with that classic line from The Red Green Show. It sets the tone perfectly.

The muffler story is legendary, though. There’s something heroic (and slightly chaotic) about crawling under a car in concert clothes just to save the night—especially on the way to see Elton John. Third-row seats, a falling muffler, and a rose from the stage? That’s cinematic.

Clever turns in a simple story. Just great. 🙂

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
