Great Bodies and Rivers I Have Known.

The womb

The Schuykill river and hurricane Agnes wiped out our house.

We body surfed on Fenwick Island in the Atlantic.

Traveled the Susquehanna to Virginia and back.

Ate Dirt Cheap on the Chesapeake.

Ran miles and miles on The Potomac.

Met many people on the Tulpehocken river.

Pushed baby strollers on Lake Washington.

Biked the bridges on the Willamette.

Discovered The Tragically Hip on the Pacific.

Got married on the McKenzie river.

Lost my wedding ring in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Middle daughter lives and prospers on Green Lake.

Played on the beach with Arthur and Lou on the Puget sound.

Then there is mighty the Columbia river close by.

Running early morning on the Rhine

The frozen canals of Berlin

We all go back to where we belong.

This is beautifully reflective and deeply poetic. I love how you wove a lifetime of memories through rivers, oceans, and places—it feels like a map of a soul traced in water. Each line carries both movement and meaning, and the closing thought gently ties it all together with a sense of belonging and quiet wisdom. Truly moving and elegantly written.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
