Religion Derision

I am not religious, but I find religion fascinating. We were members of a United Methodist church in Portland. The church was deeply divided about LGBTQ rights. That’s a rather large chasm. Our local church was liberal and the minister a person I truly respect.

What is Ramadan

This is all antidotal based on my limited knowledge of Islam.

The big question is when does fasting start. The annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam[6] and lasts 29 to 30 days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next. The thing is this is not a Gregorian calander rather one based on the sighting of the crescent moon. The issue being the moon’s rising sits on Tuesday in some time zones and on Wednesday in others.

This did allow me to have breakfast with my daughter today before I left Mainz.

It’s the little things.

Or as how my minister in Portland would have said. “That is how god works.”

I’m not sure if I’m religious, having cycled through several and making efforts to be more steady with Buddhist practice. I’ve moved away, but don’t want to… just seems to be another cycling through. Religion is fascinating if one is curious, and of course such a key to trying to understanding others.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
