Kenneth Whats The Frequency

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

I used to live for the days of a new REM album release. I just got done with a run and decided to go to the record store and get the new album. In retrospect, it was a greatest hits album and what was the rush.

Lots of Young Women

I got out of my car and was surrounded by a group of about six young women. They looked like a rock band themselves. I was curious, and naive me, didn’t see anything askew.

One of the girls asked me to give them a ride somewhere. I remember hesitating because they weren’t all going to fit in the car. Some of them did.

Suddenly

The police surrounded my car and pulled me over. They asked us to put our hands on the car where they could see them. A light rain started to fall, and the police started asking questions. They asked for IDs and various other questions. They asked what I was doing with these six women. I told them I came here to buy the new REM album.

Likely Story

Apparently, these women were part of a shoplifting ring that the police had knowledge. I did not have a local license as I just moved from Virginia. By definition, that is breaking the law as well. I was the perfect suspect. For some reason, a teacher I had in high school walked by the scene. I have no idea why. He looked at the policemen and spoke.

Kenneth is Not a Criminal

He said I may be over trusting but there is no crime in that. I did go back in the store and buy the album. The story was second page news in the newspaper the next day. By the way Kenneth is my first name,

What a wonderfully told story—equal parts suspenseful, humorous, and endearingly human. The way you build the scene from an ordinary errand into such an unexpected twist kept me hooked the whole time. I especially love how it highlights your trusting nature and how fate stepped in at just the right moment with your teacher’s appearance. It reads like a slice of real life that proves truth can be stranger (and kinder) than fiction.

Beautifully written. Hopefully you never saw any of those young women again.

I am far removed from that scene. It was probably Joan Jett and The Blackhearts

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
