From My Kids Perspective

What were your kids parents doing at their age?

This is a very interesting question and I’m going to answer this as if my kids are answering. In the last two weeks I’ve been at my daughters in Seattle, my son in Berlin and now I’m at my daughter‘s house in Mainz.

Why

Because I think about that all the time. They have mastered so much that I did not at their ages. I never had a garbanzo bean until I was 28. They’re raising kids successfully and doing it in multiple languages. I walked my daughter and granddaughter to school and then work this morning and I was so proud of them.

Als ich jünger war

This is a very common expression in German, indicating when I was younger. More specifically when I was their age, I had just met their mother. I was a somewhat elite runner and was just getting my foothold in the computer industry. I listened to The Cure, R.E.M., and classical music. That’s not much different than today.

By all means, I didn’t feel like I had my act together. It was a struggle. I imagine they feel the same. To my eyes, they seem to have their act completely together.

I’m very proud. As an aside our middle daughter is training for a half marathon. if you see an apple on the ground today, it doesn’t fall that far from the tree. Have a great day.

What a heartfelt and beautiful reflection! 🌿 Your words carry such warmth, pride, and gentle wisdom—it’s touching how you celebrate your children’s journeys while honestly remembering your own. The love, admiration, and quiet joy in this piece truly shine through. 💛

I would love to hear you opinion as well

He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
