The United States is sometimes embarrassing to me. We give in to those in power and especially big oil. I am taking a train to my sisters house in Heidelberg. I can sit and watch the world go by.
I just had a conversation with a train conductor in German. It is not easy, and that’s is the beauty of this adventure known as life.

What’s weird is that it’s a wonderful thing to know languages, and even if it’s hard for some of us, how strange to be upset about others having that skill set and benefit to the world. As someone born and raised in Miami, it was often difficult to shut out of things, like PTA moms conversing with one another in Spanish. But I never saw that as a problem of knowing and speaking Spanish. It was more an issue of the particular manners of those women.
