A Passion Play

List five things you do with passion.

Last night I wrote about going to art class with my daughter. Today I woke up and found out one of my favorite short stories will be published in a magazine in March.

I can’t put into words how excited I am about this opportunity. I have been published previously but this is extra special. This story takes place mostly on a picnic bench in a park near where our daughter lives. The wildfires as a backdrop are a tribute to her as well. Her wedding went from a large wedding to a small intimate affair because of wildfires. I pause each time I pass this picnic bench.

On the fifth day of Retirement
my true love sent to me:
5 empty notebooks
4 miles of running
3 sets of racquetball
2 blank canvases
and an hour at the library.

Jenna cuts my hair

On the eighth day of Retirement
my true love sent to me:

8 intricate stories

7 soups a cooking

6 days of travel
5 empty notebooks
4 miles of running
3 sets of racquetball
2 blank canvases
and we did our taxes.

This is joyful, tender, and deeply alive with purpose. Your passion shines not just in what you do, but in why you do it—the way art, writing, movement, and love for family weave naturally through your days. The story of the picnic bench, shaped by memory, resilience, and quiet tribute, is especially moving.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
