Unique Christmas Tradition

When we lived in the Hollywood district in Portland we had a tradition unique to many.

Speed Christmas

There was a Christmas tree lot about a half mile from our house. The goal was to get a Christmas tree as fast as possible.

My wife and who ever was home would set the timer and give a ready set go. Max (our youngest) and I would dash the half mile to the lot, pick out a tree and pay for the tree.

The Sprint Home

Once purchased, we would put the tree on our shoulders and sprint home. I believe our record was 14 minutes and change, improving every single year.

Frohe Weihnachten

Dashing through the snow

In a one mind open way

Over the streets we’d go

Laughing all way

Trees on shoulders bright

Making purists uptight

Have a great holiday

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
