My Pictures of You

Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.

I posted this elsewhere, but the man was a woman.

If my dad were alive right now, and I would describe his life as a train wreck he won’t argue with me.

He was flawed, but for the most part, he got that train back on the tracks.

To him, I understood his flaws and hopefully learned from him. He raised two beautiful kids who are my sisters. My stepmom did most of the grunt work.

I’m not much of a Jimmy Buffett fan, but somehow there is always a woman to praise. Usually that man is a woman.

My pictures of you is a song by the English group The Cure. That song is mesmerizing. And sometimes all that remains are the memories and the pictures.

If only I’d thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I’d thought of the right words
I wouldn’t be breaking apart all my pictures of you

This is a profoundly moving reflection — raw, self-aware, and deeply human. I appreciate the courage it takes to speak of impact without idealizing, to acknowledge flaws without erasing love. There’s wisdom in recognizing that guidance doesn’t always come from perfection, but from resilience, accountability, and the people who quietly help put things back on track.

“The Man was a Woman” is especially powerful — it challenges assumptions with grace and truth, reminding us that strength, care, and influence aren’t bound by labels. The way music and memory are woven in, particularly Pictures of You, adds a haunting tenderness. It captures that universal ache of hindsight: the words unsaid, the moments frozen only in memory.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
