St. Vincent How Brilliant Art Thou

I was sitting here listening to Side B of St Vincent’s Mass Education. I find the album mesmerizing.

As I was listening I picked up a book where I had a story published. I wrote the story very quickly and never spent much time “living it”. It was a story I almost completely made up.

But I have the fortune, of being related to my kids. Our daughter recommended this book. “Death of a Penguin” as it is a surreal political satire set in post-Soviet Ukraine, featuring an aspiring writer named Viktor and his pet penguin, Misha,

The book gave me the idea for this short story.

I can’t describe what it is like to read something you wrote and got published. I read the story today and it is rather wild. I liked it today more than when I wrote it. I could not remember where I was going with it.. that was fun.

I think I posted this soon after it was published.

Eat Dirt Cheap has obscure references with characters from Tale of Two Cites, The Master and The Margarita, and Chekhov.

sometimes I’m really weird and I’m OK with that.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
