It is interesting to me why we get inordinate positive reactions when listening to music. I love finding music I never heard before. It’s like exploring a place, planet or mountain top you have never been before.
Why familiar music hits the pleasure center synapses?
I don’t know why and it does not matter that much. I was just listening to an old vinyl album I found in a dusty record bin I purchased from some guy looking to get rid of his vinyl. It was an old Three Dog Night album. I was especially moved by the song ‘Out In The Country” from the an album titled ‘It Ain’t Easy’.
And Should I Should Describe Moved
I’m not sure that I can, but it’s like being in love you have no control over it. It’s just beautiful..
Back Again
People listen to music for nostalgic reasons. Sometimes I unexpectedly get blind sided by nostalgia. I do not go looking for it. I remember moderately liking this song as a twelve year old. “Out In The Country” wasn’t played often having only gathering moderate billboard success.
I played the album a few times after buying the dusty crate of albums. I listened with a bit of respect as the entire album may have been cutting edge at the time.
Max
At he same time, my son called me from Berlin telling me about an album he bought at a second hand store. I am not sure he spoke of the same album but it was Three Dog Night. I even mentioned the song “Out In The Country”
The brain processes music in complex ways. This song is a special connection between my son and I in the most oddly inter stellar sort of way. This probably explains my emotional response to a song that I think of as “pretty good”.
I take him a few albums when I visit. I am listening to a St, Vincent album (Miseducation) right now I am sure he will like it.

I would love to hear you opinion as well
