So Hip

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

Years ago, we were finishing up a relay in Ocean Shores, Washington. I just finished my third leg completing 22 miles that day. So I was roaming around town completely high on endorphins.

As usual, I didn’t plan what I was gonna write today so when I got to the end of the first paragraph, I realized I found Ocean Shores that day. That section of the Pacific Ocean is secluded and not like any other ocean in United States. We go there often.

Back on Point

But that was not my intention here. Our second van pulled up on the beach and they were blasting some music.

We all hugged congratulating each other that we were finished with the relay.

But I had to ask, what is that music you’re playing?

They were playing the Tragically Hip. There’s a long backstory there, but that’s a story for another day. The music hit my ear perfectly on that day. The Hips music has been with me ever since. Their music tell stories of Canada. I also learned a little bit about myself that I like to tell stories.

Poets

Don’t tell me what the poets are doing
Don’t tell me that they’re talking tough
Don’t tell me that they’re anti-social
Somehow not anti-social enough, that’s right

There’s so much beauty out there. We just have to look for it.

I did find a perfect sand dollar on the beach that day as well

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
