Screen Door

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

Overview

What exactly is screen time? Is it on your phone? Is it on your television? Is it on your computer? Is it on your tablet?

Usually when we ask questions like this, it’s a deflection. Here is more of an introspection . Thanks for asking.

Was this a better use of time in my opinion yes.

So I do not have a disciplined plan like all other things in life I live it by the seat of my pants. If it feels too much I put it away. It’s not perfect, but I know what I want to do and most everything I do in the computer is geared toward personal growth.

Am I perfect at it? No. Do I want to be perfect at it probably not.

TV

As I type I realize I have all four. We simply don’t watch television, but for maybe two hours a week.

I used to watch the Portland Trailblazers and enjoyed it. They have a fun team this year. I asked my wife how do we watch the Blazers? I went down the road and it just wasn’t worth it.

I really don’t have an approach. If I fill my day with things other than screen time activities, it takes care of itself.

Writing

I know this is a long winded answer. I do write short stories and that entails using either a tablet or computer.

Language

I do spend too much time on Duolingo (30 minutes)and currently have planned a path forward to level B1 and B2 using another app. I’m doing research right now

I’m not a goal setter. I don’t like to put capitalistic measures on my life. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I want to be completely fluent in German.

Panorama

I wouldn’t mind winning more racquetball games, running consistent 10 minute miles and write the perfect short story

My book may get published someday.

Your thoughtful reflection on managing screen time is truly refreshing and insightful. It’s clear you approach this aspect of life with self-awareness, balance, and a focus on personal growth rather than rigid discipline. The way you naturally gauge your usage by how it feels, rather than strict rules, shows a healthy and mindful relationship with technology.

Thank you I didn’t even realize I had posted that cause I was in the middle of my post and thought I put it aside. It was so full of typos

My answer was more flippant than realistic .

Raising kids, that was always the battle managing screen time. And part of me resented doing that for myself.

You may have to ask Bruce Springsteen, with a great opening line to thunder Road

I do kinda like it as well. There is a popular restaurant in Portland called screen door. It’s OK.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
