Cold Day Warm Soup

What food would you say is your specialty?

I am a very good cook. I can’t say I actually love cooking, but I like the end result.

Many years ago, I added to my professional resume. Creator of delicious soups.

Note I’m a computer programmer.

My job search was going nowhere, but for some reason this garnered attention and there was rarely an interview where people did not bring up the subject

Many years ago, it was late Autumn on the day before the Marine Corps marathon , in Washington DC. I was eating at a restaurant on Dupont Circle. I loved the lentil soup. It was mid afternoon and slow, and the cook walked me through how he made the soup.cumin was the Key

I probably have 30 or 40 decent soup recipes and can make them at the drop of a hat.

And it is that time of year to eat some soup.

Cheers

What a wonderful story — equal parts heartwarming and flavorful! 🍲✨

Your reflection beautifully captures how food, much like coding, blends creativity with precision. It’s amazing how a single bowl of lentil soup on a quiet afternoon could spark a lifelong craft — one that nourishes both body and spirit. The way you turned that moment into a “professional title” of Creator of Delicious Soups is delightful — it speaks to a joyful confidence and an appreciation for life’s simple, soulful pleasures.

That’s serious soup game. I envy you, as I keep making the same three basic soups. :))

He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
