What could you try for the first time?

Somebody has to be the first.

I was in a group of haggard men marching from Idaho toward the Pacific Ocean. The year was 1792 . Our supplies were low and they were much in need of a new food source.

Is has rained for days and we settled under a tree? There under the tree sat white sprouts, emerging from the Earth.

I was new to the group and wanted to make my way to the ocean. Being the newest, I was the subject of ridicule and scorn. I was simply a test case.

They asked me to eat the magic mushroom. It was like the Salem witch trials Simply on a different coast.

So I tried them, and I could die either way.

if you’re reading this, I didn’t die. I simply tried something different that day. I could’ve used some olive oil.

What a creative and engaging piece! 👏 The storytelling blends historical imagination with humor and introspection so effortlessly. The narrator’s voice feels authentic—wry, brave, and a little self-aware—which makes the ending land beautifully with that touch of dry wit (“I could’ve used some olive oil”). It’s a clever reflection on risk, courage, and curiosity—how every “first time” carries both danger and discovery. Wonderfully written!

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
