I remember being seven years old, getting out the old transistor radio and tuning in a baseball game

I did for other sports, however, baseball had a unique attribute as it took place in the summer. In the summer on the East Coast one had to deal with electrical storms. There were many nights where we would catch the action between the cracking of the radio.

“ Mike Schmidt long fly ball to left crack crack crack long crack crack and now a word from our sponsor Schaeffer, the one beer to have when you’re having more than one crack”

Which brings us back to the present

Because I’m not the master of my television and I don’t feel like paying to watch a ball game, we listened to the Mariners on the radio last night. There were no lightning storms however there was plenty of high drama.

It was fun to listen and fill in between the lines.

Technical Note

Don’t try to follow the game online and on the radio at the same time. There’s a time lag. The Mariners were ahead three to one on the feed and two to one on the radio for a brief second.

I do miss the crackling of lightning. Internet radio just doesn’t have that.

I used to love listening to a game on the radio. It had the same effect as reading a book. It triggered the imagination.

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
