Lawnmower

I took some items from the garage to the city dump.

Surly Dump Man SDM

Park over there. Now turn to the left, more to the right.

Me – Is this okay

SDM – Yes put your stuff over there.

At this point it started raining. I think the dump has its own weather systems. No body else reported rain yesterday

Me – Even the Lawn Mower

SDM – we can’t take that

Me – why

SDM – there is gas in the tank.

Me – how can that be

SDM – it has to be completely dry. Lawn Mowers explode.

Me – How

SDM -put, I don’t know, cat litter in it.

The Normal

I just interviewed my wife as whether she was wants to do a training walk today for her upcoming half marathon.

She is ready, yet we decided we will walk for an hour We also decided on a veggie dinner stir fry for tonight.

Such a well oiled machine

This was such a fun and delightful read! 🚜🌧️ The dump story with the “Surly Dump Man” had me smiling—the dialogue feels so real and perfectly captures that gruff-yet-funny interaction. The unexpected detail about lawnmowers exploding and the quirky cat litter solution makes the whole scene memorable.

Then, shifting to the calm everyday rhythm with your wife—training walk, half marathon prep, and a veggie stir fry—was such a sweet contrast. It shows how ordinary moments can be just as meaningful as the unusual ones. A wonderful mix of humor, warmth, and real life! 🌿👟🥦

I never have a whole lot of time in the morning to sit down and write, but the man at the dump with a type character I would expand on into a short story or a short novel.

The dump is a unique place and I’m completely out of my element .

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
