What’s the story behind your nickname?

Is absolutely the best nickname.

I have quite a few including Peach.

This was when I was in high school and it has become a term of endearment for those who still call me that.

Peach Roots

I remember a girl whom I had little interest telling me she wouldn’t date me because of my hair. My hair was course and it was a semi afro. The nickname came from the peach fuzz of my hair.

It was the hair I had. It was also looked down upon because it was the hair people of color had. Yes that’s Berks county Pennsylvania.

Big

I have been running with the same running group since 8/8/88. I have run with this group in many places including abroad. It is traditional to be given a name when you do something of note. The name stays with you forever. So I got named Big, for my proclivity to tell stories and my stretching of the truth. There is a longer version but that’s a story for another day.

My favorite

I don’t enjoy being reminded of my age, but the term OpA is one I love being called by the grandkids and their families. The term translates well in other countries and it is a term of endearment I enjoy.

I’d rather not be called

Sir

I don’t know why.

Miss me with M’am, too. 🙂

I would love to hear you opinion as well

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
