Daily writing prompt
What do you do to be involved in the community?

There You Are

It all starts in the immediate neighborhood. I know all my neighbors well and I am there for them when needed and they for us. When new people move into the neighborhood. I am usually the first to say hello and offer sage advice

I attend most neighborhood meetings, and I have a say what goes on in our neighborhood. Every day I head out for a three to four mile walk or run. Most people know me enough to say hello of offer the dogs a treat.

Shop Local

I avoid buying from National chains and generally do a decent job of shopping locally. I had planned to retire but here I still toil. So, my opportunities to volunteer are limited. I am involved and participate in our local art house cinemas, record stores and local sporting teams.

Plant Local

We are in the midst of becoming backyard certified, which requires a certain percent, almost all of native flora. I don’t enjoy yardwork, but the butterflies, birds and animals seem to enjoy it.

I’m Mark

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
