When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

They have very little concept of growing up, and a professional career. I had no idea what I wanted to become well into my mid twenties

So as a five year old all I wanted to do was play baseball. it’s wasn’t something I saw in my future rather it was something I wanted to do all the time.

I do remember a little habit I had, and maybe it was a harbinger of what I would not become. I was shy about asking my parents for things I wanted, but the books we had I would rip out the blank pages. I would remove the blank pages so I could write in them or draw pictures.

Maybe I wanted to become a paper thief.

I watch my four-year-old grandson, and he has no idea what he wants to become. He idolizes the guy who drives the recycling truck, the trash truck or cleans the Porta potty.

His dream job would probably be to fly to Tokyo.

Or drive a recycling truck.

I guess he would rather drive the Zamboni.

He likes hockey.

And music.

He doesn’t steal blank pages out of books.

Yesterday he told me he wants to be Joey (like Joey Daccord) when he grows up 😆

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
