Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

I must set up the story, as I do not like DIY projects I dont rate myself all that great at them. I am getting better. We have two dogs and before we moved into the house we needed a fence around the yard. The rocket science within me, decided we should put in the fence ourselves. Why because marriage is a democracy, and my wife had a lot to say about that.

I have a friend who teaches woodworking at the local high school. He coached me through the project. We rented an industrial auger to dig the holes. That tool was far above my skill level. We were digging the holes and the auger went crazy and started burrowing deep into the earth. It doggedly lodged it self deep into the ground. We had a soccer game to get to and I looked at my friend and said.

“ if anybody steals this more power to them.” and we headed to the soccer game with an industrial auger burrowed very deep in the yard.

I am now the proud owner of a table saw. We probably cut 12 dozen boards to fit the fence properly. I’m also the proud owner of some really cool screw guns. We drove 432 holes in that fence and drove in 432 screws. And somehow we made a fancy gate.

This was kind of the Berlin wall in reverse. My wife insisted on a solid fence so our Jack Russell wood not bark at people going by. That was nice in theory as Jack Russell’s will be Jack Russell’s. The fence still stands to this day and still looks pretty darn good. I occasionally have to fix the board or adjust the gate.

Luna still barks at people walking by. And I own a screw gun.

I am in the middle of a drywall project right now and it is the same fiasco it gets done. It gets done well and I hate every minute of it.

thank you for reading my morning ramble

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
