The Alberta Rose theater in Portland is an iconic theatre with a seating capacity of 300.

We went to see Kat Edmonson last night and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long while . The music was stunning and her band tight as hell. There was a lot to relish as well. She told stories of songs coming out of everywhere. She got inspiration when jumping out of the shower or in a deep deep dark mood.

She reintroduced me to the Ink Spots and I’m listening to them now.
There were covers from The Cure, songs from Peter Pan and tales from Austin. I love obscure Indie artists however I would put her a notch above icons such as Norah Jones and Diana Krall. She is that good.
Kat Edmonson performs new songs from her forthcoming release as well as highlights from previous albums. She’ll interweave humorous stories about herself and her music with disarming candor and vulnerability. The gamine singer is “intuitive about melody and handy with a turn of phrase” (The New York Times).
“She’s a savvy student of ’60s film soundtracks, jazz-pop stylists and Brill Building songcraft, nodding to her influences at every turn. But her take on those stylized musical languages is so fresh and fluent that the referencing never feels cumbersome.” – NPR
