I am a computer programmer by trade, not an artist or a writer. I don’t have an MFA and my writing education consists of Composition 101.

Somehow I have had a half dozen or so stories published.

This is how I like to write a story.

I come up with a general idea and I simply start writing. I generally stay with it for a half an hour. I don’t like to type. I come back another day and continue the story. I rarely jot down notes and outlines are not my type of thing. I may be in a completely different mood. I generally don’t know where the story is going.

The story goes where it wants to go. It is like watching a series on the television. This approach works for me and of course it doesn’t. However it is enjoyable for me.

I just finished a story last night called “Portrait”. It doesn’t happen often but I do like it. The proofreading begins.

Enjoy hearing about others’ creative processes a lot. Yours sounds healthy and restful.

I would love to hear you opinion as well

His friends observe Mark seems wired a little differently. Perhaps it’s more likely that noticing little things often missed by others is a relic of a quieter, simpler time. He has a way with words, which he refuses to let be hindered by sub-par typing skills. People have great stories to tell if you sit and listen.

A belief dear to Mark is that there is certain beauty in the world. You simply have to look for it.
